Overview

Project Title: "Ghost Hunting Helmet"
Type of Project: Hard-Surface Modeling
Client/Personal Work: School Project
Date/Timeline: March 2024
Objective
The assignment required creating a helmet using surface modeling tools in SolidWorks. I sought to create a helmet design that stood out from my peers' in both form and function, and one that impacts the viewer with its distinct, resonating presence.
Roles and Responsibilities
Asset Design
Designed for ghost hunters and enthusiasts of the paranormal, this helmet merges safety features and functional tools for tracking the unknown while evoking a sense of curiosity and imparting an underlying feeling of dread. It is equipped with a holy water sprinkler for protection against demonic possession, a recorder for capturing EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena), a mask to filter out asbestos and mold particles, and finally, features integrated night vision for low-light environments. I drew inspiration from the eerie atmosphere of Ghost Adventures, the threat of possession seen in films like The Conjuring, and the utilitarian design of World War II-era gas masks to create an innovative design for those who explore the supernatural.
Modeling
Using surface modeling tools in SolidWorks gave me precise control over the the design. By leveraging these tools, I was able to achieve a unique, dynamic form that enhances the helmet’s unsettling and intriguing presence.
